· Give examples of figurative language use – simile, personification, metaphor, alliteration
· What mood is created in this story? You could find music or sound effects to create this mood.
· What symbols are used in the story? What do they represent? Images should be included here.
· What connections can be made to this story? Think about connections to the world, everyday life, self, etc. Images should be used here.
· Would you recommend this story to others? You must give three reasons why or why not. Did you like the characters? Was the plot interesting? Did it have any interesting twists and turns? Did you like the author’s style of writing? Was the story easy to relate to?
· Is there anything else you want to share about this story? Is there an interesting quote to share? Would you change the ending? Is it similar to another story you have read? Is there any interesting vocabulary used? Does the story remind you of any music? Share some interesting facts about the author. Did this story win any awards?
Directions:
1. Read the short story that is given to you. All short stories are available online from my website.
2. Discuss it with your partner using the guiding questions about analyzing short stories. Create a Google doc to share ideas and information with each other as you work on this project.
3. Decide how you are going to use the technology to represent your knowledge of analyzing your story and presenting it to the class. You may choose to use PowerPoint, iMovie, podcasting, glogster, screen casting or prezi.
4. Gather all of your findings, organize the information and create your presentation for the North Star Publishing Company’s Board of Directors.
